I purchased this kit in order to extend a bed frame and attach a foot board rather than buy a whole new bed frame. As others have stated the holes in the rails didn't line up with anything on the frame so I had to drill new holes. The metal these things are made out of is extremely tough (which overall is a good thing) but drilling the holes was very time consuming and difficult. I ended up drilling just two holes and tried to make two of the existing holes work.
The extension rails were bigger than the rails of the existing bed frame, which ended up being a problem as you want the extension rails on the inside of the frame so that the frame acts to support the rails and the weight of the bed helps keep them in place. The rails didn't quite fit, so one of them is wedged in at a bit of an angle and not providing as much support as I'd like.
In the end I was able to attach the footboard and it seems reasonably secure, but after all the time and effort I put into it I wish I'd just bought a new frame instead. At ~$40 just for the kit I didn't save that much money.
